Project 107 - Gallery & Studio
Curation, Conception, Design, Fabrication
2022-2024
Project 107 is a not-for-profit contemporary art gallery in the east end of Toronto. Housed in a building awaiting demolition, it embraces impermanence as its core value of programming. The gallery was started as a way to foster artist development, while being able to aid in exhibition ideation, curation, and support. At the space, we believe in adaptive reuse, and work with our artists to get them to think outside of the box when it comes to the ways they would typically build an exhibit, the materials that they use, and the future life of everything that happens in the space.
After years of working in industries where temporary events and installation are usually just sent to landfill, I wanted to make sure that when produce anything in the space, it is done in a way that allows for easy dis-assembly and reuse. Artists are encouraged to pull from our library of collected materials before purchasing anything new, forcing new ways to create within the boundaries of what is available.
When not hosting shows, the space doubles as a studio for art fabrication, as well as a rental space for photo and video shoots.
