Indigo Books & Music - Live In Type
Ideation, Design, Installation
2018
Indigo is Canada's largest book, gift, and specialty toy retailer, operating stores in all ten provinces and one territory, and through a website offering a selection of books, toys, home décor, stationery, and gifts. I was brought in as the senior designer for store graphics in 2018 as they were doing a complete redesign of the major stores. In this role I was asked to conceptualize, design, and work with factories to produce large scale and interactive pieces for the major flagship stores across Canada and the USA. These are some of the pieces found throughout different areas of he stores, including murals that look like paper, hand painted quotes, text based book shelves, and a massive mobile.
The Paper Shop - Created to look like intricate and delicate paper art, yet durable to the touch of customers, these pieces reveal hidden colour when looked at from different angles. The design of the pieces was unique to is specific store, with various one developed for the flag ship shops.
Mobile - A 30ft mobile inspired by Calder, created from abstract pieces of type, floats between the the floors of the Toronto flagship store.
