Amigo The Devil - Volume 1
Art Direction, Design, Illustration, Merchandise
2015
I started working with Amigo in 2010. Over the first 5 years we created 3 EPs that in time ended up becoming what is now called "Vol.1”. These first EP’s, Manimals, Diggers, and Decompositions, followed a similar design of a watercolour painting on stained paper, each pertaining to the songs within. When the final EP was released we decided to combine all 3 along with b-sides from this time period in a 2LP gatefold record that looked like a book and came with a newspaper filled with lyrics, credits, and a fold out poster. This record was to be the end of the first chapter of the band and sold out quick. As Amigo gained popularity shortly after and signed to a new label, the album was repressed as a single LP with new artwork and without the b-sides. It included a 6 panel glossy poster with lyrics on the back side.
During the design phase of the last EP and the first pressing of the record, I created the ATD sigil, that has gone on to become more than just a logo for the band. Outside of the countless pieces of merch, it has been tattooed on every body part of hundreds and hundreds individuals around the globe.
As of 2024, this album has been pressed by 3 different labels and is considered one of the pioneering staples of the "Murder Folk" Genre.
